Tutoring

I provide creative tutoring services using games, movement, hands on-activities & art.

Prior to the first session parents or caregivers will have a free phone consultation with me so I can get to know the student and their needs before meeting.

I tutor children in grades K-8 for Language Arts and Math or older if working on basic skills. Sessions are personalized to each student and their individual needs. See below about services for older clients with disabilities.

Sessions are $40 an hour (may vary based on personalization of program).
$35 an hour for multiple students or multiple sessions per week.
I also offer virtual tutoring sessions. All vitual or partially virtual students (one day or more at studio & one day online) will recieve a box of supplies including: dry erase board/ marker, game boards/game pieces/dice, mini sensory box, a notebook, folder and other personalized games and activities.
I also provide personalized educational support for individuals with disabilities of all ages. Can provide educational support for basic skills, social stories and life skills. ***sessions are $60 a session*** Please Contact me for details... creativeabilititesllc@gmail.com

Tutoring Approach

I collaborate with the family and child to find out the child's strengths and weaknesses. I use this information to create a personalized program that uses their interests and strengths to help them improve. I was trained as a special education teacher so I have experience working with students with Learning Disabilities (Dyslexia), ASD, ADD/ADHD, developmental delays and children who are nonverbal or use AAC, etc.

I get to know each child's needs and interests so I can make a more personalized experience and maximize enagement. I have a variety of resources and prior program experience that I adapt for each learner. I gather materials and ideas through personal experience, store bought materials, used teacher materials and online teacher/ tutor resources. I also make a lot of games and activities myself.

Here we celebrate milestones and progress no matter how small. For example, I show the children when I mark a check mark next to a mastered word to show them evidence of their process. I want to boost the confidence of my students and help them feel the gratification of hard work,

Choice is an important part of my tutoring center. Students have choice regarding many of the activities during the session. For example, students are able to select from a variety of letter tiles, pieces, stamps or connecting tiles. With our new letter stickers on the floor, they can even jump their words! They can also write on the large white board or chalk board wall. Students can also jump on the number line or walk on my giant hundreds chart to answer math problems.

Students also can choose between games, activities and also similar worsksheet activities when appropriate. I have found that games and choice making lead to increased engagement and more productive sessions. I created a sensory walk on the floor for students to use to take breaks and to incorperate into their lessons. I also have fidgets, alternate seating and movement breaks available to all students.

Virtual Tutoring

I offer virtual tutoring sessions. I try my best to keep my virtual sessions close to as interactive as my in-person ones. I do so by providing each student with materials for the students to use during each session. I incorperate multisensory learning during virtual sessions with rice sensory bins, textured dried glitter glue sight words, "sky writing," and tracing letters with their fingers on the table. All vitual or partially virtual students (one day or more at studio & one day online) will recieve a box of supplies including: dry erase board/ marker, game boards/game pieces/dice, mini sensory box, a notebook, folder and other personalized games and activities.
