Working with Liana at Creative Abilities has been life-changing not only for my daughter, who’s non-verbal with multiple disabilities, but for our family. 

 

In the school setting, my daughter would often whine, cry and scream during art and other activities. Liana was the first to recognize that my daughter needed to be given choices during activities. When she first worked with my daughter, it was the first time my daughter was calm and engaged during an art project. 

 

Liana has a natural instinct for teaching students who have alternative modes of communication.  Her ability to tune in to our daughter’s cues has been amazing. By providing meaningful choice to our daughter, Liana was able to create a safe, respectful learning environment where my daughter feels seen and heard, even without verbalizing words.

 

What sets Liana apart is the holistic nature of her work. She partnered closely with our family, offering one-to-one support to improve my daughter’s quality of life. Through the creative use of art, Liana has opened up new pathways for our daughter to express herself and engage with others. Liana supports us through community-based instruction, helping us better understand our daughter and equipping us with practical tools we could use in everyday situations. 

 

Overall, Liana is compassionate, patient, experienced, and genuinely committed to her students. Her work is transformative for a family that desperately wants to effectively communicate with their child. We are beyond grateful for everything she’s done for our daughter and our family.
